Blogging Explorer

Are you an explorer? Do you explore the vast capabilities of the inter-tubes? I would like to think of myself as an explorer. I imagine there might be a couple different types of people out there. If I was to setup a neat, little binary for you I might say—there are people who like to tent and people who like to RV. I don’t think that’s appropriate on any large scale, but there is a telling feature of how we react in a situation.
I get tired of regurgitation. Even though I am guilty of it myself. However, I want to believe that I am open to the possibilities, open to unexplored areas. And that’s what I really want to talk about—being open and breaking rules.
I don’t know if you noticed this, but yesterday my dad stopped by Epiblogger and left a pretty insightful comment:
As an engineer numbers are really important but they should not be all consuming. The best engineers/scientists will weigh the numbers against their gut feeling and be prepared to go with their gut feeling. It would seem to me that you are getting a good consistent response to Epiblogger, the numbers should be considered as suggestions for future direction and weighed against what you want to do but they shouldn’t define the path forward.
I like people who respond to challenges with their gut feeling. I mean, to a degree. But it shows me that they are exploring the ideas. They are open to new paths. I think especially on the web it is important to be open to new ideas—especially our own. This blog is like a giant sounding board for my ideas and I just want to see what sticks.
I can only see one downside to being an explorer —most of them end up poor, drunk and laying in a gutter somewhere and all those RV people will always have been comfortable. But I think this is where I think organic blogging is really going to take off—having the best of both worlds. Doing it all, in style.
How do you approach exploration and breaking the rules? Today, I peeked into the girls bathroom just to see what it looked like. That’s right, I am a badass. Otherwise, I am just sharing my untested ideas with all of you.

Me: … so we’re having a meet-up for readers of our blog. You know what a blog is, don’t you?
My mum: yes, it’s when you put stuff on the internet that really you should have kept private.
[...] more willing I was to give up on it and the less work I wanted to do. So I wrote posts that were easy, harsh and critical for all the wrong reasons. Plus, Epiblogger became a crummy vehicle to get my ultimate vacation. Because the money from the [...]
