Blogs can be a lot of things. Blogs can be a hammer—a tool for construction/destruction. Blogs can be a microphone—an amplifier for dialogue. Blogs can be a magnifying glass—a way to observe and scrutinize. I believe blogs are best suited to be a seed—something to be planted.
I think there is great value in considering how you blog and who you are as a blogger. What are your goals, ethics and values? How do you achieve them? Do you just employ whatever works? Do you use white hat or black hat tactics? Is there a grey area you will enter? Are you blogging for yourself, others or simply for easy money? Whether you are just starting to blog or you have been blogging for years these are some of the important questions you should have answers for.
Next week I am going to be publishing an article, maybe you would even call it a tutorial, on organic blogging. The current title I am working with is—Blog Organic: Re-imagine Your Blog. It is my belief there are a lot of strategies being pushed that often dilute our goals, ethics and values for a promise of success. This article will outline ideas on how to remain authentic while achieving a success that we can be proud of and that readers can connect with.
Blogs are best suited to be a seed—something natural, that grows and expands and eventually produces it’s own seeds.

Great post. It does seem that there is a fine line we walk blogging. Up to now my blog has been relatively ad free while I figure out a good way to monetize it. I have been an affiliate marketer for a while and make a lot of sales where I am not involved that much. I basically match what people are looking for with a product. But when I started blogging more often I realized that my name is on any endorsements I may make. It has made me a little bit afraid of promoting anything that I haven’t tested completely.
Thanks a lot Stephan. Thanks for leaving a comment. As Epiblogger grows we will likely be placing ads of some sort on the site, but the question of what kind of ads is a very real question for Lee and I. I feel that same fear of endorsing something that I know nothing about. On my personal blog, http://www.rockstarpoet.ca, I endorse a great tshirt company called Uneetee. I do that because I own like 8 of their shirts and they are awesome. But I also have Google Ads and they tend to worry me a little bit… but more often than not I just think they are hilarious plus I have made like $10 in the last 6 months so any day now I can expect a cheque… right?
