Do you like my fancy Photoshop work? You see, a good marketing strategy is to have a picture with many people in it so that others will think we are a big company and they will trust us and give us money! Epiblogger isn’t just two people, it’s four people… right.

Being that Lee lives in Saskatchewan and I live in Alberta we generally don’t get together for tea everyday. Luckily, Lee has family in Calgary and so, from time-to-time, he comes to visit. Frankly, I have no reason to go to Rosthern (few do). I called this the first official because Lee came to town once before and we got together, but at that time Epiblogger was just an idea. Prior to that, if you didn’t know, I hadn’t seen Lee since the summer of 2003 (I think?) when I was a camp counsellor and he was my boss.

After you get over our good looks, you might notice our shirts. Mine is from Uneetee.com (which we are currently advertising) and Lee’s is the coolest/dorkiest shirt I’ve seen in a while—it actually blinks and shows if there is a WIFI connection in the area (I think from ThinkGeek.com, most likely).

Lee and I sat at Starbucks, discussed the future of Epiblogger and came to the conclusion that we are both happy with the response so far and are invested to push forward and see how far we go. Other than that, this was just an opportunity to post our pictures and let you know where we are at.

I came up with the name Epiblogger by merging Epi meaning center and blogger meaning one who blogs. From this name, we came up with a pithy slogan—The organic center of blogging. Epiblogger has a meaning that is three-fold. The first meaning is that we hope and will strive to make Epiblogger a leader in the blogging world. Second, the name Epiblogger allows us to grow and cover all aspects of blogging. Finally, though we can cover everything that is concerns bloggers, we will focus on the true center of blogging, which is writing.

It is our goal to help, challenge and inspire you to be a better writer. It is my goal to be a better writer. I plan to do this in many ways and some of those are ideas are not yet realized. Which brings me back to the tagline and specifically to the word organic. By organic we do not mean that you should plant a tree, buy a certain type of food or recycle—it is, however, a good idea. I do mean that good writing is not genetic, but found in our willingness to be open and grow. Writing is something everyone has to work at and tend to.

The word organic implies more than just the act of writing, but a new way of approaching a blog (and I daresay life) and this is a subject that I will be covering in the months to come—perhaps until I grow out of it.

There are many things to look forward to but in the mean time please introduce yourself, take a thought for your blog and enjoy the life that comes with the new year.
