The First Official Epiblogger Meetup

Rhett Soveran & Lee Robertson of Epiblogger

Do you like my fancy Photoshop work? You see, a good marketing strategy is to have a picture with many people in it so that others will think we are a big company and they will trust us and give us money! :D Epiblogger isn’t just two people, it’s four people… right.

Being that Lee lives in Saskatchewan and I live in Alberta we generally don’t get together for tea everyday. Luckily, Lee has family in Calgary and so, from time-to-time, he comes to visit. Frankly, I have no reason to go to Rosthern (few do). I called this the first official because Lee came to town once before and we got together, but at that time Epiblogger was just an idea. Prior to that, if you didn’t know, I hadn’t seen Lee since the summer of 2003 (I think?) when I was a camp counsellor and he was my boss.

After you get over our good looks, you might notice our shirts. Mine is from Uneetee.com (which we are currently advertising) and Lee’s is the coolest/dorkiest shirt I’ve seen in a while—it actually blinks and shows if there is a WIFI connection in the area (I think from ThinkGeek.com, most likely).

Lee and I sat at Starbucks, discussed the future of Epiblogger and came to the conclusion that we are both happy with the response so far and are invested to push forward and see how far we go. Other than that, this was just an opportunity to post our pictures and let you know where we are at.

    Sweet! I love meet-ups (and seeing pictures of bloggers). I’m thinking of starting a meet-up in my area, but not sure how the demand will go.

    What kind of Starbucks did you have? I like a Venti Americano with an extra shot (I know, I tend to be suicidal with my espresso).

    Haha Ronald… I didn’t know people could be suicidal with espresso. I generally don’t drink coffee or coffee affiliates. Just black tea, pure and strong.

    The only other time I was involved in any kind of meet-up is when the University of Calgary was doing a study on blogging and I was invited. However, I was more of a lab-rat in that situation.

    Lab rat eh? Did they probe you with pingbacks?

    Yes, they snatched me up by using:

    < ?php get_rhett(); ?>

    Well I don’t do espresso. I like their cappuccinos. Got hooked on them just after my son was born. There was a Starbucks in the hospital. Little did I know I would need lots of cappuccinos for the next two years but that is another story.

    What a t-shirt, Lee’s… That’s actually pretty cool. Is it waterproof? How does he wash it?

    It is a cool shirt, but it is actually a pain to wash. You have to take the front part, and the battery pack off the shirt before through it into the wash. Fun to wear around though to see the lights change as you go.
